Self-Injury Abstracts & Reviews
|
A publication of the Florida Center on Self-Injury
and the Oxford Publishing Group
Self-Injury Abstracts & Reviews, was founded by Dr. Brian
Iwata in 1992. He is the Editor, with editorial and research
assistance provided by members of the Psychology
Department, at the University of Florida, Gainesville. It was a
quarterly publication of the Florida Center on Self-Injury and
the Oxford Publishing Group [a subsidiary of Behavior
Intervention Specialists, Inc].
Using the most complete, computerized searches available,
the Center maintains a comprehensive database of all
research published worldwide on the assessment and
treatment of behavior disorders in persons with mental
retardation and related developmental disabilities.
Reference checks are done on hard copies of every article
to identify additional research that is not indexed in search
archives. The resulting database is the most up-to-date
resource for professionals wanting to remain current with
developments in the field.
Each issue contains:
Full bibliographic entries, abstracts, and
reprint-address information for research
publications during the past quarter. Approximately
50 articles are indexed in each issue
A review article summarizing recent research on
specific behavior disorders or syndromes in which
there is a high prevalence of problem behavior,
assessment methods, or treatment procedures.
Appended to each review is a fully-abstracted
bibliography of key citations so that readers
wanting to learn more about the topic can access
original sources
An extended description and critique of one
article during the quarter, which is "highlighted"
due to its special significance or timeliness.
